POWER + CONTROL + FORCE does not equal "PEACE"

On November 9 at the Tricycle website The karmaqueen@tricycle.com asked: "Are we responsible for the President we’ve got even if we voted against him? Do we bear some karmic burden for the war in Iraq just by virtue of being Americans? Is there some sort of karmic swap we can make so we can continue to drive our SUV’S in good conscience?"

The last question is easy for me to answer as I do not think that karma is negotiable, so no, if you know or think that driving an SUV is somehow not a good thing, then continueing to do so will undoubtedly “put you in the red” as far as what I like to call, your “Karma Account”.

Where Mr. Bush and the Presidency is concerned, this is a little more complicated for me. I have long felt that the history of war-mongering in the United States would one day come back to “bite” the American’s “in the bum”, and so it has.

Unfortunately whether or not you voted for Mr. Bush does not mean that you are “innocent” in the overall scheme of things. “Not all Karmas rebound immediately. Some accumulate and return unexpectedly in this or other births.” [ Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami – Dancing with Siva]

As tragic as it was, I do believe that the devastation of the twin towers on 9/11 was a direct karmic consequence of the years of mindless slaughter of innocent women and children, by the US government and her agents, and in turn, the “terrorists” will themselves accumulate negative karma due to their actions. I compare Mr. Bush to The Stupid Husband, who makes bad decisions and forces his wife and children (the people of the United States) to suffer the consequences. He continues to compound negative karma upon negative karma, and so it goes.

No one is innocent: if we are born onto this planet it is for a reason.

Also I would like to remind some people that Hitler proclaimed that God was on his side when he ordered the mass-murders of millions of people. And so, each megalomaniacal dictator in his time declared that the Almighty has condoned their slaughter. And his armies have marched mindlessly to their deaths, only to be re-born into another minefield of negative karma. The bombs of bloody karma and the shrapnel of stupidity continue to blow to bits the young bodies of “innocent” sons and daughters of helpless mothers.

We forgot that we are the government. We control the protectors of our state by our votes. We control corporate America and Canada by our willingness to buy the products that they produce. If only we could understand that we do control our destinies, just as we control our appetites for material possessions and “creature comforts”, and our desire for numbing pleasures.

Not until everyone understands the nature of Karma, and its irrevocable influence, not until then will there be Peace on Earth. Even a little new born Child knows that.

There is no real right or wrong here; many are at fault.

wow, *alan* - that's heavy duty, but we all have the choice, and most of us would not be without our motor vehicles!

Yes, heavy but bearable (so far)! And as we start building hybrids I hope they "take off" just so I can assuage a bit of my guilt!

hey pj

i have to say.. i ( sadly) agree with you..

although I am not personally responsible, i am part of the whole..
we ( americans ) have set the middle east into turmoil..
robbed innocents of simple daily needs, as well as taken lives

all in the name of..
well.. lies

things are worse than eever now, I believe..
Saddam never killed as many of his people as we did..

he is not a good man.. but we did not do the right thing..
not an easy puzzle to put together..

i feel sad, guilty and helpless in the face of it..

I fully agree, we are all accountable for our own actions and there is right and wrong somewhere in the mix. Time will tell us who was right and who was wrong.

PJ, my apologies in advance. I am taking this opportunity to make an appeal from the heart to everyone who visits here on the following subject matter:

This is a "critical" week in the development of the Tour Bus project for the Sahara Aldridge Benefit Concert (concert details are on my blogsite. In fact, I have dedicated my current blog post issue to this event.

As a long-time Rick Springfield fan, I am asking for those of you who can do so, to step forward now and support Mr. Springfield's efforts to help Sahara Aldridge.
Now is the hour as this is going to be an awesome concert event.

The tour bus is FREE and will be rolling into Cape Girardeau, Missouri at 4:00 p.m. on December 7th, 2006.

If you know anyone in this area, remember that Cincinnati is the origination point for the trip.

All are invited from the following "major cities" and surrounding points:

ILLINOIS AND INDIANA: via Interstate 74 WEST then to Interstate 75 SOUTH into downtown Cincinnati; from KENTUCKY via Interstate 71 or 75 NORTH to Cincinnati; MICHIGAN AND ALL UPPER OHIO CITIES via Interstate 75 or 71 SOUTH directly into downtown Cincinnati.

It is a nice drive. Bring along your Rick Springfield CD's to play during the road trip, and remember: The cause is powerful. Sahara Aldridge is 12. She has brainstem Cancer, and she's Going to kick it's ass. But to do so, she needs our support at this time.

To recap: Here are the inbound cities and surrounding points that an invitation is being extended to:
_____

DETROIT, MICHIGAN
CLEVELAND, OHIO
COLUMBUS, OHIO
TOLEDO, OHIO
DAYTON, OHIO
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY
LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY

If you need to touch base with the Tour Bus organizer, please send an e-mail to:

michaelmanninginfo@GMail.com
From my past association with you, I know that all of you are caring individuals. I trust that you will pass along this information to everyone you know to help make this event a success.

All the best to everyone during the Christmas season of caring and sharing.

Saludos,
Enid~

Good post...I have no choice but to believe in Karma...though mostly bad.
And please please PLEASE blame the disgusting man at the top...We voted for him, sure, but did we know he was going to fuck us all over so badly?
Just a taste of what Lance hears 24/7 at home...

P.S Did you know most of the Canadians killed in Iraq and Afghanistan were "accidents" on the part of the American soldiers? O_o OR at least the better part of them.

For all his faults, Bush does pay attention to election results. He saw his re-elaction in 2004 as a "mandate of the people"-- the mandate being to "stay the course" with the war in Iraq. That election had one of the highest voter turnouts in US History. As a result, despite losing John Kerry actually received more votes than Al Gore did in 2000... and Al Gore WON the popular vote that year.

The 2006 mid-term election for Congress saw a dramatic shift from the GOP to "those other guys"-- and much like with the results of the 2004 election, Bush saw these results as a "mandate of the people" that things need to change.

I have strong mixed feelings about the War in Iraq. On one hand the reasons we (the American people) were given for entering the war were spurious and suspect... On the other hand we DID remove a dictator who was/is guilty of genocide and had his 2 sons (who were far more dangerous than Saddam) killed in the process.

In the defense, of the United States involvement in Iraq-- for over 10 years Saddam Hussein violated the terms of the cease-fire which ended the original Gulf War. He repeatedly kicked out UN Weapons inspectors and violated the no-fly zone. So, even if he didn't actually have WMDs, his actions and treatment of the UN Weapons inspectors betrayed his innocence and made him highly suspect.

I actually do support this war in principle, but not in execution. That is to say, I support why we're there, but NOT how the war/occupation is being so incredibly and terribly mishandled. With proper diplomacy going into the war, proper funding and deployment of troops, not to mention greater cooperation with our allies. I think this war would have brought about a far lower loss of life, a much quicker transition to the new government, and thus a much swifter withdrawal of our troops from that region.

I mean think of it this way, we had more troops occupying Germany following WWII than we had after Bush had declared that the war was over. The allied powers had bombed the livin' bejesus out of Germany, they couldn't have fought back if they'd wanted to. Whereas in Iraq, there was/is an insurgency that due to our lack of troop strencth has been emboldened to make our occupation a bloody mess. The allied forces in WWII prevented a German insurgency through intimidation in the sheer volume of troops we had occupying them! We botched things in Iraq royally...

Sadly, because the mess was created by the US, the onus remains on the US to stay the course and pick up that mess. If the war was indeed wrong, as so many have stated, the onus to "pick up our mess" is even greater.
