Love and the Goddess

"So through the eyes love attains the heart, for the
Eyes are the scouts of the heart.
And the eyes go reconnoitering
for what it would please the heart to possess.

And when they are in full accord and firm all three in one resolve,
at that time perfect love is born from what the eyes have made welcome to
the heart.

For as all true loves know, love is perfect kindness which is born, there
is no doubt, from the heart and the eyes.

- in the tradition of the Troubadour during the 12th Century"

Joseph Campbell, from the Power of Myth

How lovely and "timely".
I can never tire of Joseph Campbell.
(I spotted Bill Moyers last night on PBS with a new series on Faith...)

love is perfect kindness which is born. What an amazingy saying, yet your picture of the heart says such pain youve dealt with and may be still dealing with.

i thank you .. and i hope you do not mind my "borrowing" it to sare with someone i love.

yep "angeldust"as i work on my project i'm listening to all the 6 CDs of Joseph Campbell, The Power of Myth...soon i will have them memorized i listen to them so often!

hi JIP, i just felt an "impulse" to include that self-generated "Coat of Arms" - Clan Douglas, on my Dad's side, the motto "we make sure" comes from way back in time, when, during the land wars of the Scottish Barons, they trapped one of their enemies in a church and stabbed him to death; then, one of my ancestors, taking out his dagger, and delivering the last blow, said: "we make sure"....so it is not really about my pain, but the genetic disposition "to make sure"....and as i said, i was just moved to put that drawing up.

i AM still dealing with pain, but with a JOYFUL heart....as my favourite quite goes: "pain is inevitable, suffering is optional" - it certainly serves to keep me grounded!

hi kath, yep -- dealing with real life, not as much fun as blogging!!!!! anyway, i'm back now, except when i'm working on my mom's project...and trying to escape the heat...glad you enjoy the quote from Joseph Campbell...you should try to get his complete works, he was one amazing man and a great thinker...i love his stuff...hope all is well with you?

Hey there alan, how are things, will be popping over to see you soon.

luv to all,
pj

It's hard for me to understand the words, but I like the pictures.

Ah, Mr Campbell.

"Follow your bliss."

I have to agree with jumpingpuddles, the quote says one thing but the picture implies a lot of pain. It is my hope that one day you will not feel that pain to this extent and maybe even draw this picture again to show the world that pain does heal and the heart does love again.
