Waiting for One Child

"Black, White Yellow, no one knows...

All accross the land dawns a bright new morn...
A ray of hope filters in the sky...

This comes to pass, when a child is born."

POWER + CONTROL + FORCE does not equal "PEACE"

On November 9 at the Tricycle website The karmaqueen@tricycle.com asked: "Are we responsible for the President we’ve got even if we voted against him? Do we bear some karmic burden for the war in Iraq just by virtue of being Americans? Is there some sort of karmic swap we can make so we can continue to drive our SUV’S in good conscience?"

The last question is easy for me to answer as I do not think that karma is negotiable, so no, if you know or think that driving an SUV is somehow not a good thing, then continueing to do so will undoubtedly “put you in the red” as far as what I like to call, your “Karma Account”.

Where Mr. Bush and the Presidency is concerned, this is a little more complicated for me. I have long felt that the history of war-mongering in the United States would one day come back to “bite” the American’s “in the bum”, and so it has.

Unfortunately whether or not you voted for Mr. Bush does not mean that you are “innocent” in the overall scheme of things. “Not all Karmas rebound immediately. Some accumulate and return unexpectedly in this or other births.” [ Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami – Dancing with Siva]

As tragic as it was, I do believe that the devastation of the twin towers on 9/11 was a direct karmic consequence of the years of mindless slaughter of innocent women and children, by the US government and her agents, and in turn, the “terrorists” will themselves accumulate negative karma due to their actions. I compare Mr. Bush to The Stupid Husband, who makes bad decisions and forces his wife and children (the people of the United States) to suffer the consequences. He continues to compound negative karma upon negative karma, and so it goes.

No one is innocent: if we are born onto this planet it is for a reason.

Also I would like to remind some people that Hitler proclaimed that God was on his side when he ordered the mass-murders of millions of people. And so, each megalomaniacal dictator in his time declared that the Almighty has condoned their slaughter. And his armies have marched mindlessly to their deaths, only to be re-born into another minefield of negative karma. The bombs of bloody karma and the shrapnel of stupidity continue to blow to bits the young bodies of “innocent” sons and daughters of helpless mothers.

We forgot that we are the government. We control the protectors of our state by our votes. We control corporate America and Canada by our willingness to buy the products that they produce. If only we could understand that we do control our destinies, just as we control our appetites for material possessions and “creature comforts”, and our desire for numbing pleasures.

Not until everyone understands the nature of Karma, and its irrevocable influence, not until then will there be Peace on Earth. Even a little new born Child knows that.

i am the TRUE Wonder Woman!!!

I know some of you will be thinking "What the 'hey? Halloween is long past - what's this all about?" - so, perhaps an explanation is in order. As well as responding to claybethelridge's claim that HE is the True wonder woman, i also had an interesting realization about myself last week.

I came to the conclusion that part of the reason for the terrible "rut" i am in now is because i seem to have lost touch with my "Intrinsic Self" - with the onslaught of "life" and all the stresses and woes that come with it, i seem to have temporarily mis-placed that fun-filled, energetic, motivated, creative person that i was during the time that this photo was taken. So part of this Post is also for myself, to connect back to that time when i knew that anything is possible, all obstacles can be pushed aside, i CAN realize my own destiny...and i just needed something material to remind me of that.

(circa 1977)

and here i have let my hair grow long (circa 1979)

An imposter (Clay i think) has been making claims that he is the True Wonder Woman, and i must therefore advise him to cease and desist from making such claims; he is just an imposter!

Halloween is Over - time for a new post!

This is all i have the energy for after flying around on my broom all night!

BEFORE: Note skim milk in plastic jug before beating with Bamix electrical whisk

This is my substitute for whipping cream to put on top of my capachino

Coffee Ritual - sometimes i use the plunger type coffee maker (see above photo), sometimes the good old electric coffee maker; anyway you make it, as long as you use good quality coffee it will please me.

Me and my gorgeous wee Girlie

Mothers, Daughters, Sisters

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

Don’t forget your sisters,” she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her lass. “They’ll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them. Remember that “sisters” means ALL the women…your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. You’ll need other women. Women always do.”

‘What a funny piece of advice!’ the young woman thought. “Haven’t I just gotten married? Haven’t I just joined the couple-world? I’m now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surly my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!”

But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon women, Sisters are the mainstay of her life. After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I’ve learned:

This Says it All:

Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don’t do what they’re supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favours.
Careers end.

BUT…

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley’s rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley’s end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you. Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, grand-daughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mother, Grand-mothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life!
The world wouldn’t be the same without women, and neither would I.

When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

Pass this on to all the women who help make your life meaningful.
